The NHRA season came to an end this weekend in Pomona, Calif. Robert Hight, driver of the AAA of Southern California Mustang Funny Car, came into the race third in the standings with a chance to win the title, trailing leader Cruz Pedregon by 39 points. Unfortunately, Hight was beaten by Tony Pedregon in the first round and Cruz Pedregon went on to win the race and claim the championship. Hight finished the season fourth in the standings.
Hight’s teammate, Mike Neff, driver of the Old Spice Mustang, made it all the way to the semifinal round before losing to Cruz Pedregon. Neff beat Jeff Arend in the first round and Tony Pedregon in the second round. He finished the season ninth in the standings and will most likely be named Rookie of the Year.
John Force, and Ashley Force, who each drive a Castrol GTX Mustang, each made it out of the first round. John Force defeated Tim Wilkerson in the first round, while Ashley Force defeated Gary Densham in her first round matchup. In only her second season, Ashley finished sixth in the standings, while her father, John, finished in seventh place.
Bob Tasca III, driver of the Motorcraft/QuickLane Mustang, lost to Ron Capps in the first round and finished the season 12th in the standings. Tasca is also a contender for Rookie of the Year honors.
