
Grand-Am KONI Challenge
Five Ford Mustangs finished in the top seven spots in the Grand-Am KONI Challenge race at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.
Billy Johnson and Ray Mason were the top Ford drivers in the race, finishing third in their No. 52 Ford Mustang FR500C. It was the team’s second podium appearance of the season.
Joe Foster and Scott Maxwell were just two points out of first in the standings coming into the race and finished fourth in the No. 55 Ford Mustang FR500C. The duo has finished in the top 10 seven times in nine races.
Mike Canney and Hugh Plumb finished fifth in the No. 60 Ford Mustang FR500C for their fifth top-10 performance of the year.
James Gue and Bret Seafuse, who entered the race with their team tied for first place in the standings, finished sixth in the No. 37 Ford Mustang FR500C. It was the team’s seventh top-10 finish of the season.
Dean Martin and Jack Roush Jr., drivers in the No. 59 Ford Mustang FR500C, finished seventh for their fifth straight top-10 finish.
Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup
The inaugural season of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup came to an end this weekend with two races at Miller Motorsports Park.
Andrew Caddell, driver of the No. 43 Ford Mustang FR500S, clinched the inaugural Miller Cup with a second place finish in the first race and led the standings during the entire length of the season. Caddell would finish fourth in the final race.
Terry Borcheller won the first race in the No. 4 Ford Mustang FR500S to collect his third win out of the five races that he has participated in.
Ted Anthony Jr. won the second race of the weekend in the No. 9 Ford Mustang FR500S.
NHRA
Four Ford Mustangs made it out of the first round in the NHRA race in Dallas.
John Force made it all the way to the semifinal before losing to eventual race winner Tim Wilkerson. En route to the semifinal, Force defeated Cruz Pedregon in the first round and daughter and teammate Ashley Force in the second round.
John Force moved up two spots in the standings to eight place, while Ashley remains sixth, 93 points behind Wilkerson for the lead.
In addition to both John and Ashley, two other Ford driver made it into the second round. Robert Hight defeated Jim Head in the first round, while Bob Tasca III beat Del Worsham.
Hight remains fourth in the standings, but is just 50 points out of the lead.
