Stronger stance, more chiseled lines for the new 2009 Ford F-150
The new tougher face of the 2009 Ford F-150 includes unique grille treatments that give each of the seven trim levels a distinct appearance - without losing any of the character that makes it undeniably a Ford truck.
The new F-150 three-bar grille is flanked by large nostrils and new jeweled headlamps that wrap into the edges of the fenders. A sculpted power-dome hood raises the truck 2 inches. The grille design has been tailored to reflect the character of each of the trim levels:
- The XL workhorse features the simplest execution of the new grille design - this "no fuss" look is ready for the toughest jobs.
- The rugged black grille on both the STX and FX4, complete with body color surrounds, signal a sportier character.
- A chrome grille and bumper give the mid-range XLT models a tough, confident appearance.
- The higher series Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum models are differentiated by the refined toughness of the fine mesh grille inserts and unique finishes.
The new F-150 tailgate motif is an abstraction of the three-bar grille forming a graphic element that ties the tail-lamps to the three feature lines. The tailgate design curves up at the top forming a lip and provides packaging space for the Tailgate Step, along with improved aerodynamic performance.
